Technics Debuts a $19,000 Turntable, the 'SL-1000RE-S Direct Drive'

Premium Japanese audio brand Technics has debuted its newest turntable called the SL-1000RE-S Direct Drive Turntable System. Without a doubt, the new record player is the most advanced unit to be released by the brand yet -- a notable achievement considering Technics has been producing high-end turntables since the early 1970s.
In terms of specs, the SL-1000RE-S Direct Drive comes equipped with a direct drive motor that features an SP-10RE-S double coil twin rotor. As a result, the unit can deliver 3.47 pounds of torque, making it an incredibly fast-responding unit. The turntable also features gold-plated terminals, thrust bearings, and a highly-sensitive S-type tonearm.
The ultra-luxe SL-1000RE-S Direct Drive Turntable System is being sold in limited quantities and is now available to purchase on Technics website.
