Gibson Debuts the 1968 T-Top Reissue Pickups at Its Gibson Pickup Shop

— June 11, 2026 — Art & Design
Gibson has introduced the 1968 T-Top Reissue pickups through its Gibson Pickup Shop. Through this release, the company offers faithful recreations of the humbucker design produced from 1966 to 1979. These are named for the T stamp on the coil forms that helped assemblers confirm correct bobbin orientation.

The 1968 T-Top Reissue pickups are now available in Double Black and Double Vintage White bobbin options. These handcrafted pickups are built in Nashville, Tennessee, with Alnico 5 magnets, period-correct winding specifications, two-conductor wiring, an unpotted construction for authentic dynamic response, and an average DC resistance of 7.5k ohms. They are said to deliver a brighter, tighter, and more aggressive character compared to the warmer, rounder late 1950s Patent Applied For designs.
