Nuritas Debuts Research for Its PeptiStrong

Nuritas, a biotechnology company specializing in the discovery of bioactive peptides from whole foods, has published new peer-reviewed research in the NFS Journal comparing its fava bean-derived ingredient, PeptiStrong, to leucine and HMB, two well-established compounds for supporting muscle protein synthesis.

Nuritas' study introduced a novel human skeletal muscle model developed by the company to capture age-related changes. The research found that PeptiStrong activated muscle-building signaling significantly more than either leucine or HMB alone, with increases in ribosomal S6 phosphorylation of nearly six-fold in young cells and over three-fold in aged cells. Critically, the research identified that PeptiStrong works through the MAPK/ERK pathway, a mechanism independent of the LAT1 transporter that leucine relies on to enter cells, and which was found to be markedly reduced in aged muscle cells.
