Apple has unveiled a new enhancement to its AirTag functionality, designed to simplify the recovery of lost belongings when traveling with airlines. Through a new partnership with United Airlines and Air Canada, Apple’s 'Find My Share Item Location' feature integrates its powerful Find My network with airline customer service systems, streamlining the process of locating misplaced luggage.
Now available with iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS 15.2, the feature allows travelers using AirTags or other Find My-enabled accessories to generate a Share Item Location link directly from the Find My app. This link can be shared with airline customer service, providing real-time location updates to help pinpoint missing items and accelerate their return.
Generated links are private, protecting consumers from unwanted individuals accessing their bag's location. Apple has plans to integrate this feature across multiple airlines, including Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, and more.
